In general, an F-1 student on post-completion OPT may travel outside the United States temporarily and be readmitted to resume F-1 status and employment for the remainder of the period authorized on his or her EAD card. The FCDO cannot speed up the return of British nationals who are under 18 from the USA. Their return from the USA could take months. If this happens, the US authorities will take the child into their care. The US authorities can stop you entering the country if they have safeguarding concerns about a child.
